SAND DUNE

The desert spread out in every direction, we were travelling along the well trod spice routes, to trade for valuable silks and spices.  Fierce winds, sand piled on sand forming dunes that  masked the rocky terrain. Our water supplies were low, we hoped an oasis was just over the hill~~~~~~

allowing our camels to use there natural instincts, snouts lifted sniffing the air as their ancient dromedary cousins had. Every so often a swirl of sand would dust our feet with the sting of the fleas it
carried with it. Our journey seemed endless. Visions of the next dune brought all the despair and hopelessness that the Bedouins had warned us about. One foot in front of the other avoiding each others dry blood shot eyes. Mouths crusted with scabs and dry spittle that had long ago disappeared.
