There has been some excellent sunny weather and the allotment has needed a lot of extra moisture to keep the crops growing. The occasional storm however and the associated rainfall has been very welcome. Everything is growing well and we have been eating Loganberries galore, in jellies, with ice cream and in fruit salads.
We have been eating some lovely salads, very imaginatively prepared by Margaret. The runner beans are nicely in flower ready to produce a good crop and we are enjoying a veritable flood of courgettes now.

The garden at home is also suffering from the oppressive heat, Even the garden birds are lethargic and searching the very dry hard ground for food. We do keep the feeders full and the bird bath has fresh water. Margaret and I have been taking the opportunity to sit out in the garden to enjoy the sunshine.

The sunrise on the allotment today~~The temperature guage in the car read 21 degrees at 6am this morning. I managed to work for 4 hours weeding, feeding and watering the plants.
~~~THEN~~
As soon as I got home the heavens opened, and for about two hours we experienced something akin to an Indian monsoon.
