Where does the time go?
I can not believe it has been a whole month since I have posted an update here. This month is usually devoted to harvesting the remains of what has been a very good year on the allotment. I have also had a lot of tidying up to do and I am now preparing the beds and settling them down for the winter.
Last week I planted some over-winter Onion sets that should produce a very good crop of Onions in the spring. I also planted some Garlic bulbs that I grew myself this year, they are a nice large tasty variety. I thought it would be worthwhile to save and plant some of them again. I have sown some Broad bean seeds and these will settle in for the winter, the crop will arrive in early spring before the dreaded blackfly wake up.
I have been busy cutting down and burning my Autumn fruiting raspberry canes, we had a very good year for soft fruit on the allotment and Margaret has a good supply in the freezer.
The incinerator is a very good excuse to stop for a warm every now and then.
