By John Yeo
The females are the hunters of the pride,
They hunt with teamwork, seek out the prey.
The lions are kings of the jungle.
Fighting each other to mate and display
The finest manes with the smoothest fur,
Youth fights for the right to rule the pride.
The family of the big cats feed in line,
The strongest feed first on the sweetmeats
The weakest fight to survive on the leavings.
Vultures circle overhead, waiting aloft,
A pack of jackals follow the pride
To scavenge the remains and lick the blood.
Baby antelope staggers blindly, tries in vain
To escape the pack of predators.
Seeking the mother who lives no more.
