Day 4~~ICE SHEET
Dawn breaks in the icy North
An ice-sheet stretches for miles.
The sun comes up in a blaze of glory,
Reflecting the ice-sheet, dazzling the senses
Silence invasive, broken by our huskies
Pulling us over the smooth glassy surface
Panting and barking as we glide on the ice
Frozen water everywhere life is hard.
Seals beak surface in holes in the ice-sheet
Fish in abundance with marine life below,
Birds flying high in hungry profusion
Calling to each other in the glistening dawn,
Fighting and squabbling over scraps of fish.
In the distance two large ghostly figures loom
Pure white fur invisible against the ice-sheet.
Polar bears hunt, hungry for food and shelter
The ice-sheet stretches endlessly in every direction.
