THE BEAST MISSES

by John Yeo

Picture

The village was located at the edges of the tropical evergreen forest. The villagers would grow food, collect fruit from the forest and kill small animals for food. One day, Abhay a young, fearless, carefree man was collecting wood for cooking from the forest. He sensed a pair of eyes watching his every move. Abhay became uneasy, he was sure he was not alone. Then a low growl became a roar and a full grown female tiger suddenly appeared on the path in front of him. Abhay turned to flee, a shot rang out, the tiger turned and fled unscathed.

THE RETURN
by John Yeo

Here we lived on this side of the lake. Even the ducks seemed to know, and would not come near. The condition we suffered, caused physical disfigurement and disability. The monks who looked after Mary and I, kept their distance. They insisted we pray, and immerse ourselves in the water many times, during the day and night to wash away our sins. Mary and I met here in the leprosarium, and fell in love. Together we watched the sun, rise and set over the lake, many times. Our spirits return here often to immerse ourselves in memories of the past.

Challenge ~ 100 words on the word STAFF

STAFF FOR STAFF
by John Yeo

The shepherd lived to protect his sheep from harm. One day, many sheep were stolen in broad daylight. The shepherd was unable to stop the theft as the thieves were armed, all he carried was his old gnarled wooden staff for protection. His sheepdog was shot by the thieves during the raid.
The farmer sadly dismissed the shepherd, as he could no longer afford his wages. One day in the village, the local baker offered him a job. "I will pay you well for the work, if you can swap one staff for another, Bread is the staff of life".

The sea of stories
by John Yeo

  •  Every article, alive or dead, is physical matter made up of universal molecules, part of the whole. Each section has a unique story to relate. Every seashell was once a part of a life-form and has lived through a story. Timeless pebbles illustrate seas where waves washed and polished them over and over again. Empty wine and water bottles, beg the question, who consumed the contents? A timeless clock sits above the scene, displaying jumbled numbers obscuring the time. The artist constructed this work of art using driftwood from wrecks, and material from the seashore.
  • Thereby hangs another tale.
